Description and Properties:
The Text field is ideal for use to collect information that is limited in length. This is displayed as a single line of text.
The Paragraph Text field is ideal for use to collect information that is more than a short sentence. You can select to display the Paragraph Text field as Small, Medium, or Large field display options.
With Multiple Choice you can select one, and only one, of the choices. They are presented in Radio Button format.
A Dropdown field is just like a Multiple Choice field except that rather than a list of choices where you select using Radio Buttons you select from a dropdown list.
A Checkbox field is ideal for situations where you want to make a statement and have the visitor indicate that they understand the implications of the statement by requesting that they check the box.
A Group Checkbox is a little like the Multiple Choice except that you can select multiple options on the Group Checkbox.
The Date field type allows you to collect dates using a calendar pick or date input field.
The Time field type allows you to collect a time such as Time of Birth, or Event Time, etc.
The Price field type allows you to collect Price information from people.
The Country field allows you to collect Country information.
You may wish to collect multiple other email addresses from people. Use the Email field to collect these.
The Address field type allows you to collect Address A, Address B, City, and Zip Code.
Use the Phone field type to collect phone numbers.
Use the Name field type to collect names… such as Nick Name, AKA Name, etc.
You may want to collect a variety of Websites. Use the Website field to do this.
The Link field is used to collect URLs.
Custom Database Field Groups
We discovered that when you create a large number of Custom Database Fields is can become confusing to find them and it helps to group them based on common characteristics.
The “Standard Layout” for Records contains three (3) columns of information. Those are, from left to right:
- Personal Information
- Company Information
- Custom Database Fields
The third column can get quite long if you do not organize your Custom Database Fields into groups and it can become hard to find the information you are seeking.
Example: It is common to create a lot of Custom Forms and to use specific Custom Database Fields for some of these forms. You can create Groups for the Forms and organize your Custom Database Fields into Groups that are named after the Forms. This makes it easy to find your information.
